This Saturday, on 29 August, the annual large-scale parade of antique cars “Retro Jurmala” will take place in Jurmala.
The event, which is organised by the Latvian Classic Car Club, is traditionally supported by Jurmala Municipality and Rietumu Bank.
The last weekend of August becomes a real festivity for owners and lovers of antique cars for the 21st year in a row. Each time, about two hundred unique cars take part in the parade – they arrive to the Latvian resort specially for this event from all over the Baltics and other neighbouring countries.
Car owners from the Baltic countries, Scandinavia and Western Europe, as well as from Russia and Belarus, have already submitted their applications to participate in the current parade.
Participants of the Retro Jurmala parade will gather in Jaunkemeri on Saturday at 10 am, from where they will move towards the centre of the resort in the afternoon.
On the way, from 2 pm to 3 pm, the colourful procession will visit Kauguri and later, from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm, will make a traditional stop in Majori on Jomas Street. As usual, lovers of vintage cars and holidaymakers will be able to view unique samples of vehicles here, many of which are now considered luxury items, take selfies in front of them and take pictures with colourful participants of the parade.
The parade will end at 6.30 pm in Bulduri, in the territory of the Gardening School.
The “Retro Jurmala” parade is the biggest event of this type in the Baltics. Anyone who owns vintage vehicles – cars, motorcycles, minibuses, etc. – can take part in it.
