More than 400 children have already attended dress rehearsals of the concert in the Large Guild. Special guests for the rehearsal were the President of Latvia Raimonds Vзjonis and his spouse Iveta Vзjone.
And 50 more children will see this opera on 12 January in Liepaja.
The presence of pupils at the concerts has been organised with the support of the Rietumu Charity Fund, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra Fund and its co-founder Jвnis Enzis. The organisers of this campaign would like to stimulate the gifted youth of Latvia to reinforce their views of choosing their profession as professional musicians.
The part of Mary Stuart is sung by the famous Latvian opera singer, recipient of the highest award of Latvia – the Order of the Three Stars, virtuoso Marina Rebeka (soprano). Marina has already said that this part is very complicated to perform, but she was always thinking about it. An important stage for the Latvian opera diva will be improvement of this part in this opera, as in March she is invited to perform the same part but this time in a new performance of the Rome Opera House in Italy.
There are also other talented and recognised musicians performing on the same stage with Marina Rebeka. For instance, the part of the Queen Elizabeth is performed by the rising star, born in Russia and working in Germany – Katya Levin (soprano); the part of Robert Dudley, the 1st Earl of Leicester, is played by the winner of several Grammy Awards, Turkish tenor Bilents Bezdizs. The Italian bass-baritone Gianluca Mager plays the part of the Earl George Talbot. Laura Grecka (mezzo-soprano) has the part of Anne Kennedy, and the part of William Cecil is given to a faultless professional, bass-baritone Richard Machanovsky. The Director is John Fiore, an American who has already taken the audience by storm in Geneva, Zurich and Dresden.
