The Potential and the Future of Electronic Money Will Be Discussed at the Riga Forum eCom21

10 September 2014, 14:00

The event is traditionally held under the patronage of Rietumu Bank.

Similarly to last year, the subject of the conference will have a clearly determined focus. The name of the current business forum – Money 2.0 – determines its content: reports, speeches and discussions will be dedicated to electronic money, which is increasingly becoming more popular in the world.

The currently happening transformation of traditional cash – banknotes and coins – into credit cards and e-money has radically changed the world culture of currency circulation.

This historical “monetary revolution” has already affected end users, the business community, financial institutions and the state, thus putting new issues and challenges on the agenda. However, this trend has not yet been widely discussed in business colleges and it has not yet been well regulated by legislators; hence, it naturally entails a lot of questions.

What advantages can be expected from the new formation of money? How should business react to the impressive growth of the industry of non-banking electronic payments – wait for its complete formalisation or become an active participant in the process already now? What should the rules be in this new world? How can stable laws and conditions of development be achieved for it? The task of eCom21 this year is to shed light on these issues and discuss other key topics of “the money of the future”.

Those participating in eCom21 as speakers have been already confirmed by representatives of companies such as Visa and MasterCard, Yandex.Money, Money.Mail.ru, QIWI, World of Tanks/ Wargaming, Payonline.

Every year the conference assembles over 400 participants from the Baltic states, Russia and other CIS countries, the USA, Great Britain, countries of South-Eastern Asia and other regions of the world.

As regular participants of the Riga forum note, eCom21 is traditionally not just a conference, but a convenient platform for establishing new business ties and contacts, meetings and discussions of professionals of the e-commerce market and those entrepreneurs who already operate in the internet environment and see their future in it. Therefore this time, like before, all the conditions for productive communication will be provided within the framework of the forum.

eCom21 is traditionally held with the support of the global provider of online payments ECommPay and the leader of the instant payments market QIWI. Also among the partners of the conference is RBC media holding and the biggest banking resource of the Russian internet, Banki.ru.

Comprehensive information, the programme of the conference and the registration form can be found on the website www.ecom21.com. See you in Riga!
