The contest aims at opening and supporting bright, original and talented musicians from the entire of Latvia, assisting them in their artistic growth and revealing their potential. ‘A talent especially needs support and attention, as well as to feel appreciated. Our Fund will do everything possible for new talents to be known both in Latvia and internationally,’ says Inessa Galante.
The official title of the contest is “Talents of Inessa Galante.LV”. Its participants will be vocalists (without age limitation) in the classic and jazz vocal categories, as well as instrumentalists – graduates of Latvian schools of music.
To make participation in the contest as open as possible to all who are interested, regardless of their material opportunities and other circumstances, the organisers have developed a special programme consisting of several stages.
At the first stage, which will last until the end of March, every interested person may submit an application for participation with a video recording of their performance. These recordings will be evaluated by the jury and the best participants will be invited to the semi-finals, to be arranged in four cities of Latvia. Then the winners of the semi-finals will be assembled for the final in Riga. Alongside it, internet voting will take place to reveal the sympathies of the public.
In all categories of the contest, the winners will receive monetary awards and the chief winner will also receive a grant for a half-year of studies. According to the popular voting results, the Audience Award will be granted.
Winners of the contest will also get an opportunity to perform at high level concerts organised by the Inessa Galante Fund, including the renowned festival “Summertime – Inessa Galante Invites”, which traditionally takes place in August at Dzintari Concert Hall and gathers together numerous fans of classical music from Latvia and other countries.
The Chairperson of the Board of the Rietumu Bank Charity Fund, which regularly supports big projects in music education, Inga Sina notes, “Latvia has given many bright talents in music to the world. We have to apply all efforts to retaining the high level of our musical culture and also developing it further on. Moreover, we have to do it systematically and purposefully. Therefore, for more than ten years the bank and the Rietumu Fund have been supporting talented creative youth.”
