Exhibition “Four seasons in painting”

2 February 2011, 12:00

A new exhibition of the most popular contemporary Latvian painters – “Four seasons in painting” opened in Rietumu’s headquarters gallery.

Unlike our previous exhibitions that used to be personal expositions of one painter, masterpieces of the best Latvian painters, who represent three generations of painting experience, are displayed in Rietumu’s gallery. The works of art are featuring nature, its beauty and versatility.

The old school’s masterpieces are an exquisite autumn still-life painting of Imant Vecozols and gorgeous view of winter Venice by Alexei Naumov, rector of the Latvian Academy of Arts.

Paintings of Biruta Delle, monumental canvas of Dace Liela, provocative works of Aiya Zarina and picturesque canvas of Ilze Avotina are part of the Latvian middle generation of visual arts.

The young generation of the national painting school is represented by canvas of Anna Baklane, Andrei Amelkovich, Laima Bikshe and Andris Eglitis.

It is already the third exhibition in a row hosted by Rietumu in collaboration with Daugava gallery.

The gallery is open in Rietumu Capital Centre (7 Vesetas Street) until the end of February, Monday through Friday, from 9 am until 5 pm.
